Who Says Musical Training Makes You More Successful?

Many people like to listening music but not all people have the same preference of music. Rock, Pop, R&B, Jazz, even Classic are some examples of music genres that people like to listen. And because of their liking about their favorite music genres, some of them want to learn how to play certain musical instruments which relate to their favorite genre.
If they like rock music, they usually choose to learn how to play the drum or the electric guitar. For jazzy people, they prefer to learn about how to play the bass or the organ. And for those who like classical music, they like to learn how to play the piano forte or the violin. However, some people often take music course just to have fun and to show off to other people. They only want to play music just to be praised by other people. And many people also think that learning musical instruments is troublesome and difficult. Because of those reasons, many people often do not care about the benefits of learning music. They don't know that learning music can also help them develop themselves in positive way besides being praised by people. Helping academic achievements in certain subjects, getting social achievements, and expressing feelings into valuable and great creations are the benefits of learning music.

Some psychologists said that learning music can help increase academic achievement in certain subjects. The psychologists made a survey to students who took music courses and who didn't. And the research showed that students who took music courses had the better results in their academic subjects, especially in mathematics, than those who didn't take music courses. From the result of the study, we can conclude that learning music can help us, especially students, to get higher scores in certain subjects and even to get ranks in class.

It is presumably that learning music can activate our inactive brain cells. Because sometimes we have to solve some mathematics problems such as calculating number of the beats of the notes, the pace of the tempo be when it comes to ritardando and sort of things. Solving those problems can trigger the inactive brain cells to be active. The more you activate the inactive brain cells, the more you'll be more excellent at solving such mathematics problems in music. And automatically, you can be smarter.

Besides helping increase academic achievements in certain subjects, people who learn musical instruments can improve their talents and skills to something beneficial for them, like joining music concerts as participant or even attending music competitions. Joining and attending those social events will help them get achievements such as certificates, medals, or trophies. And from those achievements, we are more likely to get a job because some companies prefer hiring new employees who are talented and active, based on their certificates and other social achievements. So, collecting social achievements from learning music can make us easier to get a job.

The other benefit from learning music is to get money from your own original songs. When you can play musical instruments, you can create songs and express what you feel into your songs. When you feel sad, you’ll write a song. When you feel happy, you can create another song. Even when you feel angry, disappointed, even confused, you still can write a song. To be able to write your own song, it'll be easier if you can play musical instruments because you can decide what accord you can use for your own songs and you can also decide what melody that suits with the lyrics. After creating your song, you can record the song and upload it to social media such as Youtube, Soundcloud, etc. From the social media, your song can be more popular among people and you can be famous as well. Isn't that great?

From those benefits of learning music, we can conclude that learning music can help us gain success in our future. People should concern about those benefits instead of learning music just to show off to other people or only to be praised by them. Our feelings should participate as well in learning music because if we enjoy the music, you will not feel difficult at learning it. Music does exist in this world to be enjoyed. So, playing musical instruments is one of the ways to gain success.
