Take Advantage of Manga Comics - Read These Tips !

Manga has a lot of fans not only in Japan, but also almost around the globe. If translated literary, “manga” means a weird picture.
This is appropriate because the pictures in this kind of comics are not realistic (since the comic authors make their own version of human appearance; such as characters with bigger eyes and shinier than human eyes). The manga authors are usually called the “mangaka”. Since the late 18th century, there have been more than 3000 mangakas in Japan. America brings a big influence on Japan, especially after the Second World War.  Although manga comics have been written since 210 years ago, because of the American influence there are lots of changes in Manga genre, and more and more mangakas who have the interest and have more freedom to create manga comics. Currently, there are so many Manga comics available such as Shinchan (a 5-year-old naughty boy who always annoys his surroundings), Doraemon (a robot cat from the future who helps Nobita, and an unfortunate boy),  Midon is a Tomboy (a story about a teenage girl who disguises as a boy for secret missions), Naruto (a ninja who wants to be the strongest ninja ever) and a lot more. Manga comics are usually created in many series of comics. Manga comic with the most chapters is Haime no Ippo (890 chaplers), followed by Detective Conan (730 chapters).
The combination of creativity, drawing ability, nice story ideas, and opportunities results in so many boomed manga comics and successful mangakas. As time passes by, there are more manga comic fans in the world.  Manga comic is an interesting kind of comic but it has negative sides. Although reading manga comic is quite beneficial, especially for those who want to draw manga, it also affects the comic freaks since they tend to imitate the characters either positively or negatively.

Imitating popular and cool characters in the comics, especially by the teenagers, is one example of the influence of manga comics.  They tend to imitate the characters’ attitude, words, even habits both positive and negative ones. Some of my friends compare the cool and adorable boy characters in comics with the real boys in my school. One of them once said, “How happy I am if I can find a handsome and a smart boy like Hiromi Kun (a boy manga character in Lunatic Moon comic). Imitating how to be cool from comic is not an appropriate way because people in the real word dislike the words or the attitudes of the comic characters.  Besides that, imitating the characters attitude in the comics is an indication of unconfident attitude because they don’t trust themselves.

Another benefit of reading manga is that it helps you learn English since many manga websites (such as www.onemanga.com and www.mangafox.com) are in English. They can be motivated to know the meanings of unfamiliar words in the comics. As comic freaks, of course they need to understand the story in the comics completely. So, they must understand the English dialog in those online comics. This way, they can enrich their vocabulary and grammar little by little.

However, reading comics for free in the websites is not enough for manga freaks so they have to buy the comics. They become so addicted to reading comics that they will buy the comics no matter what the price is charged.  They consider comics as necessity, so they set aside their pocket money only to hunt the newest comics. This habit will make them become shopaholics, which is not good for teenagers. Besides that, sometimes kids or teenagers can't manage their time between studying and reading comics. In other words, they may spend more time reading comics than reading school text books or doing some other activities.

The next advantage of reading manga comics is its numerous genres and its cute pictures. Comic readers find manga very interesting because there are various genres of manga comics from romance, friendship, action to mystery. Besides the story, its cute and adorable pictures called "anime' make many people love reading manga comics. Many people like to draw because of manga comics. They try to draw as good as the ones in manga comics. This obsession motivates them to make their own version of anime and comics. Some famous mangakas such as Miyawaki Yukino (M&C’s mangaka), Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto’s mangaka), Eiiciro Odda (One Piece's mangaka) admitted that Doraemon and Dragon Ball comics inspired them to create their own version of comics (which later on can be as popular as the previous comics). Manga readers can learn how to draw anime's face, expressions, body-shapes, and dresses or clothes. They first start by copying the anime then after some time they will find their own manga characters. The good point is reading manga comics improve the reader's creativity.

In short, manga comics can motivate comic readers –most of whom teenagers- to read more. This can make them addicted since the various genres and the typical fantasies such as magical princess or transforming heroes can help improve their language or the arts and culture (even as they grow older, they still like manga comics because this kind of comics reflects their current experiences). However, they should not be so addicted and become shopaholics just to hunt new comics. They also should not fantasize the characters in the comics because they need to realize that the characters in comics are different than that in the real life.  They should take some positive aspects from the characters to improve their interpersonal relationship and leave the negative ones.
